The Cans

Supplies needed

Tubes used Devil Girl mascot, Gig poster, logo; blues band 'The Cans' Artwork of © Nolan Worthington
Font of choice I used Showcard Gothic


Open white Canvas 600 x 600

At end of the tutorial resize tag or if you prefer working smaller use a smaller size

Set foreground colour to #454c5b

Preset tool > eclipse circle > draw a circle in the middle of your layer

Click the + sign on circle layer > double click new eclipse on layer palette > set stroke width to 3

Text tool > Showcard Gothic > size 48 > Hover mouse over edge of the circle

Till the letter A changes to on a slanted angle

In the text Box type your name In CAPS you need to click the enter before your name in the text box

So your name drops inside the circle

Type your names enough time to go round the circle in Caps

Click on Name layer in layer palette > right Click and click create raster selection >

> your name should now have matching ants round it

Right click on layer again > click promote selection to layer > selections > select none > rename promoted layer Name

Click on the eye symbol on the circle layer and X out your name > see screenshot below

Right click on Vector layer > covert to raster layer > rename layer Circle

You should now have 3 layers Background, circle, and name

Preset tool > eclipse circle > draw a circle in the bottom right of your circle

> convert to raster layer > Rename layer Small circle

Duplicate this small circle layer > image > Mirror > image flip

Select small circle layer > Magic wand > click inside the circle

> matching ants will appear round it While still selected > click copy of small circle layer

> hold down SHIFT key on keyboard and click inside circle

You should now have matching ants round both circles

Click new raster layer > flood fill tool > colour #454c5b > flood fill both circles

> on the new raster > rename Layer flood

Selections > modify > Contract > number of pixels 1

Effects > texture effects > blinds

While still selected > select name layer > hit delete on keyboard and the parts of your name

That were showing in the small circles should of disappeared

Selections > Select none > drop Opacity to 72 on this layer

Open Gig Poster tube (girl with guitar) edit > copy > edit > paste as new layer

Raster deform tool > move to inside top circle

Magic wand > click inside the top small circle > selections > invert

> Selection the tube layer > hit delete on keyboard

Open Devil Girl mascot tube edit > copy > edit > paste as new layer

Raster deform tool > move to inside bottom circle

Magic wand > click inside the bottom small circle > selections > invert

> Selection the tube layer > hit delete on keyboard

Your tags should look like this now

X out Background, all layers except the tube layers click on layer palette > merge visible > rename small girls

X out Background, all layers except the small circle layers click on layer palette

> merge visible > rename small girl

Select name layer > selections > select all > float > de-float

Selections > modify > Contract > number of pixels 1

Effects > texture effects > blinds

Settings used before

Open blues band 'The Cans' tube edit > copy > edit > paste as new layer

Raster deform tool > position in large circle

Magic wand tool > drop opacity on tube layer so you can see the edge of the large circle better

> draw round the edge of circle and around the over lap of the type > right click to close

Hit delete on keyboard > selections > select none

Add copyright information to layer if you want it on the outside of the circle

Repeat the steps we did for YOUR NAME

Right click on layer Palette> right click > Merge Visible

Image > Resize > 80% > save
